Stories of Grace

These brief accounts are shared simply and faithfully, as they were received.

A Heart Softened at the End of Life

Two twin sisters who were also nuns regularly requested our Rosary tapes to give to patients and families at the hospice where they worked. We provided these tapes free to the religious.

One night, an elderly man was upsetting everyone with his ranting and raving. A fallen-away Catholic, he had declined the offer of a priestly visit and was not “going quietly into the night.”

One of the sisters asked if he wanted to listen to her Rosary tape, and he agreed.

When she returned later, she found him with tears running down his face.

He asked to see a priest, received the Sacraments, and passed away later that night.

A deacon from Illinois stopped by our church and told the staff this story.

A woman in his parish was praying the Rosary with the Knights of Columbus Rosary tape when the phone rang. Her teenage son and daughter had been in a bad car accident.

She rushed to the scene, and when she saw the mangled car, her heart sank. She thought, “No one could come out of that wreck alive.”

But then her heart leapt as she saw her children emerge from a nearby house.

She believed they survived because she was praying with the Knights of Columbus Rosary tape.

One of our council member’s wives was driving to Texas with a friend. After they had chatted themselves out, she asked if it would be alright to pray the Rosary with her Rosary tape. Her companion said that was fine and admitted she was curious about the Rosary.

Listening to that Rosary led her to enter the Catholic Church.

(We are not saying that one must be Catholic to get to Heaven, but we believe the Church offers special graces that help along the way.)

A parishioner told us about a similar experience.

After her father had passed away, she and her sister were going through his belongings. When they found a Knights of Columbus Rosary tape, the sister asked if she could have it. She had never really taken to the Rosary and was also a fallen-away Catholic.

She later returned to the Church.

During a difficult time, one man found himself carrying a heavy burden.

One evening, he prayed simply:
“Lord, I need to know that You love me.”

He spent time in prayer that night, bringing his concerns honestly before God.

The next morning, after his prayer, as he reached for the small rosary hanging from his car mirror, he noticed something unexpected. The rosary, which had been silver in color, now appeared to have turned into gold!

He recognized it immediately as the answer to his prayer.
